BARBARA AMOS
The art works of Barbara Amos begins with response to a familiar scene. Sometimes the work is blurred, fragmented and rearranged. These are metaphors for a changing world.
Barbara Amos has completed 3 public art commissions in Alberta. In 2010 she was commissioned to create 20 photographs for the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Lois Hole Pavillion, in Edmonton. These were created with a handmade camera lens. Where a traditional photograph selects and frames an image, this lens creates an ironic twist by fragmenting the scene, creating new patterns out of an older reality. A steel version of this lens is on a city street in Calgary.
