KENNETH COOKSON
Kenneth's childhood displayed the gift for drawing at a young age. The foundations of his creativity were formed in those early years although his skill was still largely a raw talent. However, Kenneth later excelled at forming a more disciplined approach to his art and through the awarding of grants eventually went on to study at the renowned
California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
After graduating, Kenneth built a career working in Advertising and Design Studios as a successful Art Director and Graphic Designer. Today he applies his unique interpretive style as a fine artist.
"Color impact and thought provoking design, these words sum up what I attempt to achieve when I create one of these large canvas pieces. A creative process that follows design principles of composition, color, pattern and texture is married with a mixture of mediums. The results are these dramatic mixed media works that challenge and engage the viewer."
Previous works have been displayed and sold at Art is Vital Gallery in Calgary, Alberta and the Agnes Bugera Gallery in Edmonton with a number of works going to private firms and individual collectors in Canada and the United States.
Kenneth Cookson lives and works from his studio in Maple Bay on Vancouver Island and is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
