MICHAEL den HERTOG
Michael was born in Montreal to Dutch parents, and lived in Vancouver since childhood. Having painted as a hobby most of his life, he finally left a career in business in order to devote his full energies to his art.
Although Michael is largely self-taught, he has studied art at the University of British Columbia, the Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, Vancouver, and the Instituto Allende in San Miguel D'Allende, Mexico. He now occasionally teaches painting and creative process. He has received numerous awards in Canadian juried exhibitions, and served for many years as a director on the board of a national artists' organization.
Over the past decade, Michael's work has been exhibited through a number of galleries in Western Canada, and his paintings are widely represented in private and corporate collections in Canada, the U.S.A., Asia, Europe, and Mexico (including the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City).
Michael works in his studio/gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver.
